Root – The Homeland Expansion

The Homeland Expansion is the 4th full expansion for Root, and by far its biggest one yet. Besides adding frogs (The Lilypad Diaspora), bats (The Twilight Council), and skunks (The Knaves of the Deepwood) to the roster of adorable critters waging war across the Woodland, there will also be 3 new Vagabond classes, including a goose with a massive axe. And just in case that’s still not enough new content for you, there are also the Swamp and Gorge maps, making the already endless possibilities even endless-er (Is that a word? It is now).

Alongside the main expansion, there will of course be an associated Hirelings box for those who enjoy adding that extra tactical layer to their games, as well as the new Squires & Disciples Deck, which can be used in place of the standard deck from the base game.

The Homeland Expansion is expected to arrive towards the end of the year and is sure to be a must-have add to any Root fan’s collection.

A New Adventure Awaits in Middle-earth: Fate of the Fellowship Arrives This September!

Like many of you, I have a deep love for all things Tolkien. From the timeless books to the unforgettable films, Middle-earth continues to inspire awe, and I never pass up a chance to bring that world to life on the tabletop. Over the years, I’ve explored a wide range of Lord of the Rings board games. Some have been truly memorable (shoutout to The Lord of the Rings LCG from Fantasy Flight), while others, like War of the Ring from Ares Games, felt more like prepping for a final exam! Even the recent Duel for Middle-earth offered a fantastic experience, though it left me wishing it supported more than just two players.

Now, I’m counting down the days until the arrival of what might be the most exciting Tolkien-inspired game yet: The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship. Fortunately, the shipping gods have smiled upon us, and our stock is expected to land by mid August 2025, right on schedule for the international street date of 31 August 2025.
